NOW THIS IS HARDCORE IBIZA

- CLEMMIE MOODIE

AS MONIKERS go, ‘Babe’ isn’t that bad. But my nickname was not born of my Barbie-esque looks, rather after the Hollywood movie Babe, which was all about a pig. My tendency to eat whenever, and whatever, has led to ‘friends’ using the porcine emoji in lieu of ‘Clemmie’. But the straw that broke the piggy’s back came when I could no longer fit into my trusty black work trousers. Something besides the zip had to give. So I found myself en route to boot camp on Ibiza’s north coast. Not just any boot camp: the No 1 Boot Camp, the island’s most hardcore training haven, with alumni such as Spencer Matthews (the Made In Chelsea brother of Pippa Middleton’s new husband), Melanie Sykes and Freddie Flintoff. On arrival, I was shoved on a set of scales and various body parts were prodded and measured. Next, my 17 new campmates were told to be up at 7am for a ‘pre-workout snack’. One measly date and four hazelnuts later, we were told what to expect — and it was not going to be seven days of holistic healing. A typical day included hill sprints, a 30-minute core workout, a weights session and boxing. All before lunch. More running, circuits and yoga concluded proceedings. Two snacks plus three delicious, chef-cooked meals were the highlight of every day. By mid-week — or ‘tearful Tuesday’ as it is known — I was struggling. But two days later something miraculous happened: I awoke excited for the six-mile hike. So, how did I fare? Thrillingly, I shed 7.6lb and lost a total of 19cm around my hips, tummy, arms and thighs. That’s impressive.
