Hot dogs, cool cats... pets chill out!

- By George Odling

WE’RE all getting a bit hot under the collar – but it’s worse when you’ve got a fur coat.

Luckily, there are plenty of way to keep your dogs and cats cool – as these images show.

Fans, paddling pools and even special doggy ice cream have been suggested by pet owners who have shared their methods online.

Animal welfare volunteer Charlotte Fielder kept her dog Snoopy cool by soaking a cleaning cloth in water then fashioning it into a neckerchief. Pet shop owner Piers Smart, of Cambridgeshire, posted a photo of a sausage dog lapping away at a tub of ‘ice cream’.

Alison Waines’ tabby cat discovered the cool porcelain of a bathroom sink and decided to curl up inside. And London photographer Bonnie Le Bon shared a snap of her labrador in a pool, along with the reminder: ‘Remember humans to keep your pets’ water bowls filled and do not leave us in a hot car!’
