How to buy a celebrity beach body
Well their (surprisingly wearable) swimming cossies at least . . .
Sienna Miller
Solid & Striped, £160, Poppy Delevingne collection at net-aporter.com MADE in Italy, this should stand the test of time — though a block colour bikini will always last longer than a paler design. If you have a flatter chest, a strapless style will work well for you.
Coleen Rooney
Seafolly, from £116, beachcafe.com MONOCHROME looks sophisticated whatever the weather. Made from a polyamide and elastane mix, the briefs are generously cut for comfortable wear. But if you’re looking for support, this bralette won’t really do it.
Elizabeth Hurley
Navy swimsuit, find similar at £156, elizabethhurley.com TAKE a tip from the Queen of Swimwear, who knows that dark colours are always slimming. Every shape would suit this cossie and its chic cut-out detail — that is, unless you don’t want to show off your cleavage.
Kendall Jenner
Colby bikini, £332 plus shipping, lisa mariefernandez.com FIFTIES-STYLE swimwear is a big trend this summer, and it’s so flattering — creating curves and adding volume to the bust. But covering up your tummy may actually emphasise it, so for some, going for a lower cut brief would be better.
Emma Thompson
Seaspray, £76, seasprayswimwear.com RUCHING is excellent at hiding lumps and bumps. This style suits all figures; it both creates and enhances curves while disguising less-than-taut tummies. But don’t pick this electric-blue shade if you want to blend in on the beach — it’s an attention-grabbing colour, as Emma found when she limbered up on a diving platform in the South of France.
Helena Christensen
Reger by Janet Reger, £45, debenhams.com DRAW attention to your waist with this low-cut design that’s brilliant for pear shapes. The plunging neckline brings eyes down to the chic belt detail that you can tie at the side or centre to highlight your slim middle, and its neutral caramel shade is extremely flattering both before and after you’ve worked on your tan. The perfect balance between looking glamorous and hiding all the bits you may not want to show. More of a posing piece than a practical swimsuit, however.
Cindy Crawford
Melissa Odabash, find similar from £95 at theoutnet.com SNAKESKIN and leopardprint swimwear is surprisingly flattering — the colours enhance a tan, giving a gleam to mature skin. The soft, matte material of this bikini moulds to curves well to show off the figure — and it’s a style that won’t date. If you’re a pear shape and want to wear an animal-print bikini, it would be more slimming to opt instead for an animal-print top and a block colour below the waist.
Kate Bosworth
Heidi Klein £190, heidiklein.com THETH neutral tone ofo this design will work with just about anything. However, big busts won’t get th the support they n need, so go fo for an underwire in instead. And don’t fo forget to think a about your co cover-up — so something li light to throw o on over yo your bikini. Heidi Klein, £190, heidiklein.com
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Missoni, now £168, net-a-porter.com BIKINIS that tie at the side are perfect for mums-to-be with changing figures, so I can see why Rosie chose this style while carrying her first child. As the bump grows, you simply alter the sides to keep it fitting well — they are also flattering on women with larger hips. However, the tops that match tend to offer little support for a fuller bust.
Geri Horner
THIS simple, sky-blue swimsuit with pretty scalloped edges will be a mainstay in your wardrobe for years. Heidi Klein’s prices may be at the higher end of the scale, but the costume is made of a polyamide and elastane mix which will keep its shape and stand the test of chlorine, suncream and time. This is perfect for curvy types. If you’ve got a boyish frame, you’d be better off trying a bikini with a high-waisted bottom to accentuate your narrow hips.
Eva Longoria
Melissa Odabash, £220, odabash.com STRUT along the beach with confidence in this Baywatch-style bold red swimsuit. The mesh panels and sexy racer back are a nod to some of the season’s hottest trends and add chic detail to this elegantly simple swimsuit. It could easily double-up as a top and be paired with a skirt for a beach-side lunch. If you have a big bust, though, the high neck won’t suit you. And beware the possibility of some very odd tan lines!
