Divide and misrule

WE ARE living in unprecedented times, and I feel the very fabric of society is under threat.

The terrorist attacks and the loss of life at Grenfell Tower have shocked the nation. We hear reports of acts of heroism and humanity by ordinary people caught up in these awful events and the professionalism of the emergency services.

Of course, we all want to prevent future tragedies and our legitimate questions should and must be answered, but is this really the time for political leaders to promote civil strife and seek to undermine our democratically elected government?

If we want our children and grandchildren to be safe and have a better life, it is time we put our energy into bringing the country together, support others and work for the common good.
