Bovis boss £2m bet

THE boss of Bovis Homes has snapped up nearly £2m worth of its shares in his latest vote of confidence in the troubled housebuilder.

Chief executive Greg Fitzgerald, 52, bought 215,500 shares at 920p each on Tuesday, just weeks after splashing out £1.4m on them.

Shares in Bovis have surged nearly 10pc since Fitzgerald took on the job in April to lead a recovery after aborted takeover attempts from rivals Galliford Try and Redrow in the wake of profit warnings.

Former chief executive David Ritchie stepped down in January as the group was rocked by complaints over the poor quality of its homes.
