Sabador can rule Britannia

2.30 THE NORFOLK STAKES GROUP 2 FIVE FURLONGS

THE formidable presence of a Wesley Ward runner in Mcerin, means it is hard to be confident about the chances of

HAVANA GREY and Frozen Angel, but the form of the National Stakes, won by the former, has already been boosted and both are fancied to make an impact. The selection, who appears well drawn, looked very professional in winning at Ayr and Sandown and a stiff five furlongs clearly suits him. Frozen Angel suffered an interrupted passage behind Havana Grey, but stuck on bravely to claim second. He was impressive over course and distance in May and is worth considering, along with the likeable Cardsharp. SELECTION: Havana Grey DANGER: Frozen Angel

3.05 THE HAMPTON COURT STAKES GROUP 3 ONE AND A QUARTER MILES

THE Derby form is tested here with Benbatl, an eye-catching fifth to Wings Of eagles, looking a leading contender without the hood that he sported at epsom. Godolphin have enjoyed notable success this week and Benbatl looks likely to have a big say. But the decision to swerve the Derby with the inexperienced MIRAGE DANCER looked a wise one and Sir Michael Stoute’s lightly-raced colt should be more the finished article after finishing behind Cliffs Of Moher at Chester. Using that result as a benchmark, there does not appear much between the duo. Irish correspondent, third to Churchill in the Irish Guineas, looks ready for this step up in trip. SELECTION: Mirage Dancer DANGER: Benbatl

3.40 THE RIBBLESDALE STAKES GROUP 2 ONE AND A HALF MILES

AS A daughter of Frankel out of the wonderful race mare Midday, the progress of MORI was always going to be keenly viewed. To date, she has excelled, improving beyond all recognition from a subdued Newbury debut to win at today’s venue before taking a step up in class in her stride at Goodwood, where she was too strong in the final two furlongs for Coconut Creme. The selection faces stiff opposition from Alluringly, who was third in the epsom Oaks behind winner enable, while a raft of John Gosden-trained fillies bid to extend their handler’s grip on this type of event this season. epsom disappointment Coronet may prove the pick of that quartet on a more suitable track. SELECTION: Mori DANGER: Coronet

4.20 THE GOLD CUP GROUP 1 TWO AND A HALF MILES

ORDER OF ST GEORGE handed Aidan O’Brien his seventh victory in this prestigious staying prize 12 months ago and he will be a short price to win again. The son of Galileo finished third in last year’s Arc and his triumph here in 2016 was achieved in spectacular fashion given he only had a handful of rivals behind him with three furlongs to run. His acceleration and staying power is again going to make him tough to beat. Sheikhzayedroad and Torcedor, who beat Order Of St George in April, could reward each-way players, while Simple Verse is interesting, even if her stamina is as yet untested. SELECTION: Order Of St George DANGER: Simple Verse

5.00 THE BRITANNIA HANDICAP ONE MILE

SABADOR heads a list of interesting contenders here and looks the sort who could find significant improvement in a strongly-run mile. He was beaten in a tactical affair at Leicester in May, before routing a competitive field at Ayr in a race run at a frenetic gallop. Sabador looks to have pace around him with the likes of Rusumaat and Medieval drawn high and is one to keep onside. Others to consider include Medahim and Hyde Park, who were second and third at Goodwood behind Sutter County. while City Of Joy could also be on the scene. SELECTION: Sabador (nap) DANGER: Medahim

5.35 THE KING GEORGE V HANDICAP ONE AND A HALF MILES

eIGHT of the last 10 winners of this race have been drawn high so MASTER

SINGER may not be inconvenienced by stall 15. The selection also held a Group Two entry this week before connections decided on this target. The cheekpieces are applied but there appeared no lack of concentration when he beat a modest field of Newcastle maidens in blistering fashion last time. This test demands another big leap, but Master Singer looks more than capable. Bin Battuta and First Nation could prove the pick of the Godolphin horses, while Sofia’s Rock and Mister Manduro give trainer Mark Johnston a strong hand. SELECTION: Master Singer DANGER: Mister Manduro
