Philip bounces back as hospital discharges him
PRINCE Philip has been discharged from hospital after spending two nights being treated for what is believed to be a bladder infection.
The Queen’s husband was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in central London on Tuesday after doctors recommended he go in as a ‘precautionary measure’.
The 96- year- old, who has announced he will retire from public duties in the autumn, has had a busy schedule of engagements recently, undertaking seven official duties in just eight days.
He will continue to recuperate at Windsor Castle and is unlikely to join the Queen at Royal Ascot.
Although he has always enjoyed robust health, the prince has suffered a series of scares in recent years. In 2012 he was twice hospitalised with the same bladder infection.
Aides stressed, however, that the announcement in May that Philip was scaling back his public engagements was nothing to do with his health and that he had just decided to take a step back some 30 years after most people have retired.
