Go batty for this rockin’ revelation

-

Bat Out Of Hell is a blast — and it will be back.

Jim Steinman’s classic rock opera explodes right out of the eNO’s base at the London Coliseum.

as directed by Jay Scheib, director of theatre arts at the Massachusetts Institute of technology, the show’s bursting with a rare, youthful exuberance that’s often intoxicating.

andrew Polec, an american making his debut here, is a revelation as Strat. and he’s found his match in Christina Bennington as Raven, the girl he wants to spend a hot summer night (and more) with.

Rob Fowler, Sharon Sexton, Danielle Steers, Dom Hartley-Harris and aran MacRae (as various forces for good and bad) are sublime. their voices soar.

there’s still a bit of tinkering to be done, but this is pure rock ’n’ roll heaven.

the show hits toronto in the autumn and the producers are actively investigating booking another theatre in London for after its season in Canada.
