BIG ORANGE digs deep to win the gold Cup for trainer Michael Bell in a thriller from favourite Order of St george. it was a second big win of the week for jockey James Doyle after Barney roy in the St James’s Palace Stakes.

INJURED Frankie Dettori has now missed four winners. as well as Big Orange yesterday, he had been due to ride John gosden’s Coronet in the ribblesdal­e Stakes, where French jockey Olivier Peslier pounced late to beat Mori by a neck.

DERBY fifth Benbatl gave godolphin a fourth victory and provided trainer Saeed Bin Suroor with his first at the meeting since 2014. Benbatl also gave jockey Oisin Murphy his first win at royal ascot.

A LATE switch saw jockey Jamie Spencer secure his second win of the week. after his original mount was a non-runner, Spencer brought Bless Him home in the Britannia Stakes at odds of 25-1.

BRILLIANT unbeaten Frankel, twice a winner at the royal meeting, landed his first victory as a sire when atty Persse, trained by roger Charlton, won the King george V Stakes under apprentice jockey Kieran Shoemark.
