WELL done to david dimbleby for ordering a rowdy heckler to leave the Question Time audience on Thursday.

The incident has quickly been dubbed Quexit on social media.

it transpires that the yob, Steve german, is a well-known activist who stood as a Socialist MP, despises Tories and says the Queen is a ‘parasite’.

So much for the BBC’s strict audience vetting policy to ensure balance and sensible debate.

it’s little wonder so few panellists are prepared to subject themselves to this bear pit nowadays.

Having witnessed the deterioration of Question Time over the years as both a viewer and an occasional panellist, i wonder if this theatre of hostility is deliberately engineered. These days, the show is less a sensible forum for political debate than a raucous entertainment show akin to gladiators.

Politicians and commentators are treated with aggression and derision — and that’s just from dimbleby.
