WHAT I EAT DURING RAMADAN...

- SONNY BILL WILLIAMS

MY wife and I wake up around 5.15am and have a big feed. A big bowl of oats, some eggs, toast and peabased protein. The big thing is at least 1.5 litres of water with electrolytes in it. Normal water just flushes through your system but the electrolytes keep it in your body. I have my first training session, then I’ll do weights when I break my fast in the evening. I do get hungry, especially when you’re training, but that’s one of the blessings of Ramadan. By the time 5pm comes around, I sometimes don’t even feel hungry. You have one mouthful of food and you don’t want any more. When I break my fast, I have some probiotic stuff that’s good for the gut. Yoghurt, fruit, nuts. Maybe after an hour you’ll have a bit more. Sometimes I eat junk food after a match. I used to love a Filet-O-Fish at McDonalds but I vomit if I eat it now. I can eat a lot of chocolate and sugar. I love my wife’s banana cake with fresh cream.
