Hayley’s coming out of retirement!
HAYLEY TURNER signed off Royal Ascot week as a guest tipster for Sportsmail with another victorious nap courtesy of 9-2 Diamond Jubilee Stakes winner The Tin Man on Saturday. Britain’s most successful female Flat jockey had a great week, also napping Thursday’s 25-1 Britannia Stakes winner Bless Him and Tuesday’s King’s Stand Stakes winner Lady Aurelia at 7-2. Hayley’s other royal meeting winners included Gold Cup hero Big Orange (5-1) and Queen Mary Stakes scorer Heartache (5-1). Hayley is coming out of retirement to compete in the inaugural Lady Jockeys’ Thoroughbred World Championship in Sweden next month. She will be one of 10 international female riders representing Asia, Europe, North America and Australasia in the contest at Bro Park in Stockholm on July 4. Turner’s rivals will include Chantal Sutherland from the USA, Hong Kong apprentice Kei Chong and Danielle Johnson from New Zealand. Europe’s representatives also include British-based Sammy Jo Bell and Ana O’Brien, daughter of Ireland’s top trainer Aidan O’Brien. Turner, 34, retired in 2015 but rides out in Newmarket and took part in the girls’ team at last year’s Shergar Cup event at Ascot. Meanwhile, Great Britain’s Olympic hockey gold medallist Sam Quek, who tipped three winners on Friday, emerged on top in Sportsmail’s Tip Star Challenge. Our celebrities won £339.46 for charity in a competition backed by bookmakers Coral.
