Why Blur star is cheesed off with Corbyn’s pop politics
BLUR bassist Alex James is not happy that Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn used musicians to secure votes during the election.
‘It’s a mistake for anyone with a media profile to engage in party politics,’ says Alex, now an awardwinning cheese farmer, at his Jacob’s Cracker Restaurant pop- up in London’s Covent Garden. ‘You’re much better off talking about the things you know about.’ Referring to Corbyn enlisting the support of rappers Stormzy and Jme, Alex adds: ‘I think politicians can come unstuck by trying to go down that road.
‘The things I care about are family, food and music.
‘I’m not going to tell politicians what they should be doing, but I know what I should be doing, which is to stick to what I know.’
