UMEED FRUSTRATES JIMMY BY DIGGING IN FOR FIFTY

WARWICKSHIRE opener Andy Umeed held up Lancashire with one of the slowest Championship 50s for years. The Scot (right), 21, reached the milestone from 220 balls, leaving Jimmy Anderson frustrated. Umeed ended on 103 not out. Surrey’s Kumar Sangakkara made 180 not out against Yorkshire to become the first player to 1,000 first-class runs this season.
