THOUGH the car has brought countless benefits, there is also a downside to one of the greatest inventions of the modern world. For not only has the car poisoned the air we breathe and damaged the environment, but around a million people are killed on the world’s roads every year. But all that is about to change with the arrival of driverless cars, which, we are told, will ferry us around in clean, green comfort, navigating complex intersections without fear of collision. All we have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride. But, asks Horizon, with the help of vehicle science engineer Teena Gade (pictured), will the reality live up to the dream?
