Thief steals the annual results of fashion firm

-

FASHION retailer Superdry was forced to rush out its results after a bag containing a draft copy was stolen from an employee.

Owner Supergroup said results for the 52 weeks to April 29 had been taken during a ‘random theft’ from a staff member.

And, therefore, it said that it had no choice but to publish its results one week early due to the sensitive material which could have been disclosed.

The retailer, which has 863 stores and concessions around the world, said profit for the year to the end of April was up 18.4pc to £87m.

There was good news for sales, which were up 27.4pc to £752m.

Sales across stores open for more than a year were up 12.7pc.

The results are a boost for the firm, which in May had warned of declining profit margins.

The company has been focusing on opening more of its stores in the US and China, as well as selling its clothes online.

Last year, the group – which is endorsed by actor Idris Elba – opened new stores in New York, Philadelphia and Orlando.
