MINING giant Glencore’s chief execut i ve Ivan Glasenberg has been appointed to the board of state-controlled Russian oil company Rosneft.

It comes after his Swiss-based firm and Qatar’s state wealth fund bought a 19.5pc stake in Rosneft in December.

He will be a nonexecutive director and joins BP’s chief Bob Dudley, who has been on the board since 2012. Glencore wants to trade more Russian oil and supply global refineries to boost its oil division.
