Machete man held outside Bieber concert
a Man wielding a machete and reportedly shouting that he wanted to ‘chop all Muslims up’ was arrested in Cardiff yesterday near a stadium due to hold a Justin Bieber concert.
Fans of the singer screamed as police tackled the man holding the foot-long blade 500 yards from the Principality Stadium hours before the show.
Footage emerged showing police holding a man down before officers make him stand up so that he can be handcuffed. He struggles and is wrestled back to the ground before he is picked up and put in the back of a police van. a second man was also arrested.
a witness who had gone to help restrain one of the pair until police arrived said the man had pulled a machete out of his car ‘like a madman’.
The witness, who did not want to be named, said: ‘i went over to help and he threatened me. He was saying ‘‘Muslims are dirty, they are baby killers, they are bombers’’.
‘i went to him to calm him down. He said ‘‘get away. i’ll chop all you Muslims up’’.’
The witness said the man’s white vauxhall Corsa had been blocked in by taxi drivers when he flew into a rage and pulled out the knife.
He said: ‘He was just a madman. He was targeting Muslims. There was no reason to kick off. There were kids everywhere.
‘it was chaotic. There were teenage girls shouting and screaming.’
another witness added: ‘it was very scary after what happened at the ariana grande concert in Manchester.’
South Wales Police said they were called to a dispute involving motorists just after 3pm.
a spokesman said that a 27-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of affray, and a 19-yearold was held on suspicion of using threatening behaviour.
Both were in police custody and there were no reports of any injuries.
