Dennis completes McLaren departure
RON DENNIs has left McLaren by selling his shares in the F1 team and their sister road car division for £275million. The final fracture comes after Dennis was deposed as chief executive at the end of last year in a coup led by his fellow shareholders, businessman Mansour Ojjeh and the Bahrain royal family. Dennis spent 37 years at McLaren, leading them to 158 grand prix victories and 17 world championships. ‘Perhaps my greatest satisfaction is the F1 team’s outstanding racing safety record,’ said Dennis, who will devote more time to his family’s charitable foundation, Dreamchasing, which mentors children’s development.
FIVE-TIME Olympic champion cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins says he will return to competition at the London Velodrome in December — competing in the British Rowing Indoor Championships with an eye on the Tokyo 2020 Games. The 37-year-old retired from cycling last December and has since enjoyed indoor rowing for fitness purposes.
