Serving up romance, British No1 Johanna and her new boyfriend
WITH a kiss on the shoulder, British No 1 Johanna Konta joked with her new boyfriend after her Wimbledon injury scare. The 26-year-old was spotted with new love Jackson Wade, a photographer, as she recovered from a spine injury. The No 6 seed, who plays Hsieh Su-wei in the first round today, has been dating Mr Wade since she won the Miami Open earlier this year. But she admitted feeling ‘ really weird’ talking about her relationship. Last week she said: ‘He’s been around since Miami and no one cares.’
Mr Wade, 24, has been the manager of video and photography at the Lawn Tennis Association since May last year.
The pair were spotted in Eastbourne on Friday after Miss Konta pulled out of the Aegon International tournament.
She appeared in good spirits following the fall which had left her sobbing on the court as she beat world No 1 Angelique Kerber on Thursday.
As world No 7 she is the first British woman to be ranked in the top ten at the start of Wimbledon since 1984.
Born in Australia to Hungarian parents, Miss Konta moved to Eastbourne aged 14 to train.
She represented Australia until 2012 before she switched to play for Britain and holds three passports. Her boyfriend, from Newton Aycliffe in County Durham, has a degree in digital film-making from Oxford’s SAE Institute.
