ETON PAYS TRIBUTE TO A BLAIR!

-

Eton college, which has produced 19 tory prime ministers, is to host a bronze bust in honour of a Blair. Not tony but eric Blair — real name of George orwell who attended the school (fees are currently £37,000 a year).

it will be unveiled there next May to celebrate the centenary of his first day at the school. Before then, the full- size 9ft version of the statue will be placed outside the BBC’s HQ in London’s Portland Place in early November.

it was as a member of the BBC’s eastern Service that orwell worked for two years from 1941, and he based room 101 in Nineteen eighty-Four on the conference room there which he hated.
