Naked slurs ‘have ruined my wife’s life’

CLAIMS by Spanish police that a British mother of two ‘ wandered through the streets naked and drunk’ have ruined her life, her husband said.

Sophie Shambley, 30, lost her job at the upmarket Anfi Del Mar resort in Gran Canaria after police arrested her for allegedly leaving her four-year-old son and one-year-old daughter home alone.

Mrs Shambley, pictured, claims it was a case of mistaken identity and she had been in her apartment at the time.

Her husband Shaun, 32, said: ‘Sophie lost her job and we’ve been receiving death threats.

‘It’s all completely lies, we were out with friends and Sophie brought the kids back to put them to bed.

‘They were never alone. We sold our house in the UK to move out here for a good life. It’s ruined now, I’m heartbroken for our young children.’

He said the police could have invented the story to sell to the media.

Mrs Shambley had moved from Wigan to an area near the fishing town Arguineguin just six weeks ago with her family.

Police claimed she was wandering naked through the resort of Patalavaca, near the family apartment, on June 23. She was bailed pending further inquiries.
