MAKE THIS THE WEEK YOU...
ARE A LAZY GARDENER
ON A ROLL
WANT beautiful borders in your garden, but have no idea which plants will work well together?
Homebase now offers a selection of Gardens On A Roll, including an Evergreen Low Maintenance Border, from £140.
The kits, designed by award-winning gardener Antony Henn, come with a plan, plants, fertiliser and an instructional DVD.
BEFRIEND THE BUGS
INTRODUCE predators to your garden and they will keep plant-munching pests at bay. Ladybirds and lacewings, for example, will eat greenfly, so why not release a box of these
A SHARP TRICK
GARDEN tools, such as trowels, hand forks and shears, can be kept clean and rust- free without using any elbow grease.
Store them, standing up, in a flower pot filled with sand and a sprinkling of motor oil. The sand will help remove dirt and sharpen edges, while the oil will ward off rust.
SHRINK YOUR LAWN
THE less lawn you have, the less mowing there is to do, so why not turn some of it into a meadow?
You can buy wildflower seed from garden centres. Once your meadow is growing, leave it to its own devices and strim it at the end of August.
