GETTING A DIAGNOSIS CAN BE TRICKY
BECAUSE personality is a complex thing, it’s not always easy to say for sure when someone has a disorder. The symptoms can also be mistaken for other mental health problems, such as depression or bipolar, as they can superficially seem very similar. The part of the brain responsible for our personality is the prefrontal cortex — found just behind your forehead above the eyes.
This area is still growing right up until our mid-20s. Because of this, most doctors try to avoid diagnosing a personality disorder in people until they are at least in their 20s.
