5,000 new Subway jobs
SUBWAY has announced a major expansion that it says will create 5,000 jobs in the UK and Ireland.
The sandwich shop franchise wants to open 500 branches in the two countries by 2020, on top of 2,499 existing restaurants.
Subway said it was in response to growing demand for low-price food that was also healthy. Its shops serve more than 3m customers a week and have an annual turnover of £515m. UK and Ireland country director Peter Dowding said: ‘Our franchise model is tried and tested, it works for entrepreneurs and it works for us. We are confident it will continue to grow.’
