Comic blasts kids’ books ‘bandwagon’

-

LITTLE Britain star David Walliams has made millions with his children’s books, but fellow comedian Jimmy Carr refuses to follow him into publishing.

‘David’s writing some brilliant books and then some other people are now just cashing in — good luck to them,’ he tells me at a party in mayfair. ‘Some people just like jumping on the bandwagon.’

among the comics to have also penned children’s books are class warrior russell Brand, new Great British Bake off presenter Sandi Toksvig and former Fantasy Football host David Baddiel.

‘It’s definitely not something I will ever do,’ Carr adds pointedly. ‘I know my limits.

‘I haven’t tried writing any, but even if it turned out to be a hidden talent, I think it would be best kept hidden.’
