THE woman driving Citroen back to success has been named the most influential Briton in the global car industry.

Linda Jackson has topped the poll of 50 leading UK car executives. It is the first time a woman has taken the top spot. She is described as ‘a formidable operator’ and is the first woman to lead the French car giant, taking the role in 2014.

Her husband David died of cancer a year later, but before his death encouraged her not to give up – and she launched Citroen models on the world stage. 58-year-old Jackson ( pictured), who has two grown-up stepchildren, has been credited with bringing a fresh, innovative and exciting mindset to Citroen.

Practically, this translates into new cars such as the C4 Cactus and the forthcoming C5 Aircross on the forecourt.

She also recorded Citroen’s highest sales volume for five years in 2016 across Europe. Sales have been driven by the new C3 which has already sold over 130,000 in just seven months.
