Oooh, matron! Pippa’s all middle-aged again
A WIMBLEDON fashion faux pas usually involves tennis players trying to stray from the strict all-white dress code.
But on Centre Court yesterday it was Pippa Middleton’s outfit that was causing a stir.
Dressed in a see-through lace creation, Pippa managed to make the extravagant design look a little, well, middle-aged.
With a white collar, cape-style top, sensible grey court shoes and clutch, her matronly outfit looked distinctly out of place in the Royal Box, where she was alongside VIPs including the Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Kent.
The £360 outfit, by London label Self Portrait, wasn’t the first time that fashion-conscious Pippa has been noted for making an even cut- ting-edge style look sensible. When pictured on her honeymoon, the 33-year-old’s prim skirts and functional lace-up espadrilles, along with new husband James Matthews’ jeans-and-jumper combos, saw the Daily Mail dub them ‘Mr and Mrs Middle-aged’ last month. Pippa is an avid tennis fan – and a formidable player herself – who invited former Wimbledon champion Roger Federer to her wedding in May. Yesterday she was went to SW19 with her brother James, a fellow tennis enthusiast. Their sister Kate is now patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
