Mariella Frost-strop! TV host ‘thrown off train’

- By Tammy Hughes and Alexander Ward

MARIELLA Frostrup has threatened to take legal action after she says she was thrown off a train by police.

The TV presenter says she was singled out because she had questioned why the service was not making a scheduled stop. It made her miss her daughter Molly’s birthday.

She told her 56,000 Twitter followers she might turn to her husband Jason McCue, who specialises in human rights law. The train, travelling from London Paddington to Taunton in Somerset, failed to stop at Castle Cary because of a diversion.

A fellow passenger told the Mail: ‘She was having a stand-up row. We couldn’t believe who it was at first. She caused a huge scene.’ Miss Frostrup, 54, tweeted about the incident on Saturday: ‘Allen the train manager on the revised 20.06 to Taunton got a policeman to throw me off for asking why not stopping at Castle Cary!

‘Did I mention that I missed my daughter’s 13th birthday party as a result of my “disciplinary” banning from the train this afternoon?

‘You’d think police would have better things to do than back up railway bullies.’

She then tweeted at operator GWR saying the incident was ‘in the hands of my lawyer’, later adding ‘my husband’s my lawyer’. A spokesman for the rail firm said: ‘There was a fatality on Saturday evening which had a significant impact on our services. As a result the 20.06 Paddington to Taunton service was advertised as not stopping at Pewsey and Castle Cary.

‘When station stops have to be omitted from a timetabled service, we will take passengers forward on the next available service or provide transport from the nearest station to make sure they reach their destination safely.’

A representative for Miss Frostrup said: ‘A complaint has been lodged with Great Western Rail.’ The mother of two is said to split her time between homes in London and Somerset.
