Wimbledon? Best viewed in comfort
IT’S A summer ritual to make a jug of Pimm’s and some strawberries and cream, put our feet up and spend happy hours watching the likes of Andy Murray battling it out on Centre Court. And with Wimbledon gathering pace, it makes all the difference if we can indulge in this great British obsession while relaxing in a super-comfortable chair or even in a supportive adjustable bed. A chair or bed that matches our needs, is an ideal spot to enjoy a favourite pastime. And there doesn’t have to be a tennis match on television for it come in useful. Grab a puzzle book or complete a newspaper crossword — a great way to boost your memory and improve hand-eye coordination. If you’ve lost your love for reading, then dive back in! You might not want to clutter your house with paperbacks, but you could listen to an audio book, or read on a Kindle instead. A good chair that gives tailored support will help you forget about discomfort in your joints and just get lost in the story. It’s also lovely to lie back and listen to music on the radio, or perhaps through a tablet. Knitting, stitching and modelmaking are further options, as are painting, colouring and drawing. And the NHS has a fantastic guide to chair exercises, which can help you improve flexibility and muscle strength while you are cradled in a fully supported position. So a good chair or bed isn’t just for sitting or sleeping in. It can become the comfortable hub of your home, opening up new hobbies and fresh enjoyment.
