THE man running Majestic Wine took home £5.38m last year. Rowan Gormley, 55, was put in charge of Majestic after it bought his company, Naked Wines, in 2015.

The married father- of-three was paid a basic £222,000 as well as shares worth more than £5m linked to the Naked Wines deal.

South African-born Gormley waived his bonus after a disappointing first half. The previous year he was paid a £68,000 bonus.

Over the latest year, the company’s profits fell 14.9pc to £14.1m
