Labour’s 8-point lead
LABOUR has taken an eight-point lead over the Conservatives, a poll showed last night.
It is the first time the party has overtaken the Tories since before the EU referendum in June last year.
Labour were on 46 per cent with the Tories on 38, the YouGov poll for The Times said. The Liberal Democrats were on 4 per cent and Ukip on 4. Just before the general election, YouGov put the Tories on 42 per cent and Labour on 35.
But pollsters were again accused of failing to predict the outcome at the ballot box, with the Tories taking fewer seats than in 2010. Polls also put Theresa May ahead by as much as 21 points before the election was called.
