Now Amazon even starts selling its own wine

-

IT HAS shaken up many established industries by undercutting its rivals.

But as it begins selling its own brand of wines Amazon will not be aiming at the cheap end of the market.

The online retail giant has gone into partnership with King Vintners, which will produce the NEXT range at its winery in Eugene, Oregon, in the US.

Its pinot gris will sell for £15.40, its Red Blend £23.17, and its pinot noir a tasty £30.90.

The initial production run is 1,500 cases of each, with four more varieties in the works.

The wines are currently only available on Amazon in the US, but keen drinkers can also buy them through the website for the King Estate Winery.

The King Estate is the biggest winery in Oregon and its pinot gris has been ranked as among the best in the US.

Amazon already sells other producers’ wines but selling its own brand is new and marks another disruption to an established industry. Last month it emerged that the firm is also planning to sell cars in Britain.
