Dawn and her great disappearing act
‘Oh my word! Where have you gone?’
THEY say that less is more. And judging by her pleased expression, Dawn French definitely agrees.
The 59-year-old Vicar of Dibley star, who once weighed more than 19 stone, showed off her remarkable transformation in a social media post on Thursday evening.
She was modelling a colourful grandad shirt from her collaboration with Helen Teague for online retailer Sixteen47.
One shocked fan posted: ‘Oh my word! Where’ve you gone? Looking great!’
The mother of one’s much slimmer figure is the latest in a string of weight fluctuations. She lost more than seven-and-a-half stone preparing for a hysterectomy in 2014 – and in 2012 went from 19st to just over 11st.
Speaking last year on her 0 Million Minutes tour, Miss French admitted that her weight loss was down to ‘joyless’ low-calorie eating. She said: ‘It was grim. I lost sevenand-a-half stone. I could have the keyhole surgery. Great. That’s all it was, practical.’
Miss French married charity worker Mark Bignell, 54, in Newquay, Cornwall in 201 – three years after divorcing first husband, comic Lenny Henry, 58, with whom she has an adopted daughter named Billie.
