... as his hard-Left fans deny they have ‘hit-list’
A BRANCH of the pro-Corbyn Momentum group has denied creating a ‘hit-list’ of 49 Labour MPs.
Politicians on the list of targets for deselection shared by the South Tyneside group include Chuka Umunna, who led a revolt on leaving the EU single market in the Queen’s Speech debate.
In a Facebook post it said the MPs should ‘join the Liberals if they don’t want us to hold on to millions of working-class votes’.
Stella Creasy, who voted for Mr Umunna’s amendment calling for Britain to stay in the single market, was also on the list, along with Dame Margaret Hodge, who tabled a confidence vote in Mr Corbyn last year. Last night Momentum said the list did not reflect the group’s national policy.
Later the local branch claimed its Facebook page had been ‘illegally hacked’.
In an apparent attack on the Press, it rejected claims ‘by certain elements that seek to discredit our group’.
Another listed MP, Luciana Berger, was told she should ‘get on board quite quickly now’ after Corbynistas took control of her constituency party this week.
She was told by one newlyelected member of the Liverpool Wavertree Constituency Labour Party that she should apologise for her previous criticism of Mr Corbyn.
