NEW REALITY SHOW Hair Goddess, 9pm, TLC CHRISTINA OLIVA (pictured) is an ambitious queen of hair extensions from New York’s Staten Island, who’s now opened up across the water in Manhattan. She works with her family, is a warm presence and, despite a grating accent, it’s hard not to wish her well in this new fly-on-the-salon-wall series. (Sky 125, Virgin 167) SUBURBAN WILDLIFE The British Garden: Life And Death On Your Lawn, 9pm, BBC4 ‘WE PROBABLY know more about the ecology of tropical rainforest­s than our back yards.’ In order to rectify this, Chris Packham (pictured) has spent a year poking CALL 911 . . . Chicago Fire, 9pm, Sky Living THE slick firefighte­r drama begins a new, fifth season where the fourth left off, with Stella and Severide officially a couple — at least as far as Stella is concerned, but Severide isn’t so sure. Will the arrival of her knife-wielding ex see him heading for the hills? A BED FOR THE NIGHT Would You Take In A Stranger?, 10pm, More4 THIS eye-opening documentar­y follows the work of the charity Nightstop, who match young, suddenly homeless people with a kind network of hosts for a night. The snapshots of all of the lives concerned — on both sides of the equation — are nicely done.
