Say no to bonus

I, too, am embarrassed to receive a winter fuel payment (Letters), and I know many retired people who admit they do not need this payment.

however, I am even more embarrassed that my husband and I each receive the £10 Christmas bonus.

I am amazed at how many retired people among my acquaintance do not even realise they get this ( and didn’t believe me when I told them). Certainly, none of them actually need it.

I will be sending my payment to charity again this year, as will some of my friends. Surely that is not what the Government intended when the payment was introduced.

how much could be saved if this bonus were to be scrapped — and how many would miss it if it were? s. JENKINs, address supplied.
