BUILDER’S BRICK BOOST

A SHROPSHIRE factory will make nearly half a million bricks to help redevelop Battersea Power Station.

Michelmersh Brick Holdings has won a contract to supply 440,000 purpose-made bricks that match the existing ones at the site on the banks of the Thames in London. The bespoke bricks will be made at Michelmersh’s Blockleys plant in Telford, where the company employs 53 staff.

Battersea Power Station was built in the 1930s but stopped generating electricity in the 1980s. The site is being redeveloped in an £ 8bn project that will include homes and shops.
