COURT REPORT

- BY KIERAN GILL

OVER AND OUT

MARCUS WILLIS’S Wimbledon is over for another year after he and doubles partner Jay Clarke (far right), 18, lost in the last 16. The British duo were beaten 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 by Austrian Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic of Croatia.

HIT WHERE IT HURTS

SPARE a thought for Oliver Marach (right), who was hit in an unfortunate area. The 36-yearold was curled up on the turf when he quipped: ‘It’s good, I have two kids.’ Willis and Clarke sportingly helped him up, to the delight of the Court No 14 crowd.

EYE FOR TALENT

IN 2011 Andy Murray tweeted that Caroline Garcia ‘is going to be No 1 in the world one day’, adding: ‘You heard it here first.’ The world No 22 hadn’t lost a set before facing Jo Konta.

POWER KORDAS

SEBASTIAN KORDA moved into the second round of the boys’ singles. The 17-year-old American is the son of former Australian Open champion Petr Korda, whose daughters Jessica and Nelly are professional golfers.

TOILET HUMOUR

A FAN tweeted that Liam Broady was practising with Rafa Nadal. Broady (right) responded: ‘He definitely isn’t mate. I’m scrolling through Twitter on the toilet at the National Tennis Centre.’

REID’S READY

THE draw for the men’s and women’s wheelchair singles and doubles takes place today at 10.30am in the referee’s office. Britain’s Gordon Reid, 25, is the defending champion of the singles and doubles.
