THE otherwise excellent coverage of Wimbledon is let down by commentators John McEnroe and Boris Becker.

They spoil the viewer’s experience with their incessant chatter, stream of inanities and long and detailed reprises of their own past tennis glories. Annoyingly, this is not just while there are breaks in play, but even during the rallies. Digital technology gives us the red button

option to choose the match we wish to view.

Can this be extended so we have the choice of a commentary- free viewing, silencing this garrulous pair?
