Is BBC bias on Brexit alienating its viewers?

-

I’VE trusted the news as reported by the BBC all my life, but have had to give up watching it as I can no longer bear the denigration of anything or anyone who does not fit its London-centric view of our country. The disgraceful discourtesy shown to elected politicians is unedifying and leaves one feeling tainted. I’m sad that BBC News, once admired worldwide, has become unwatchable. MARGARET ASHBY, Yeovil, Somerset.

WHEN faced with 70 MPs signing a letter to Lord Hall highlighting the BBC’s anti-Brexit bias, a cross-party Commons group accusing it of the same and evidence that five out of six business opinions on the Today programme are anti-Brexit, the BBC repeats its claim that it reflects all views and its reporting is fair, balanced and impartial. Were that true you might expect the BBC to reflect the nation’s view and at least try for a 50/50 split of Leavers and Remainers among panellists on Question Time. Yet Remainers are always in the majority. Even BBC presenter Nick Robinson has said the Corporation has no duty to be even-handed over Brexit. MARTIN BURGESS, Beckenham, Kent. THE BBC claims it is unbiased, but time and again it proves it isn’t. Socalled comedian Frankie Boyle is presenting a political show that is anti-Tory and uses foul language about the Prime Minister. The BBC is unfit for purpose and should have to make its own way, financing itself with advertising revenue — if anyone’s stupid enough to support the British Bashing Corporation.

DOES BBC stand for Beeb Backs Corbyn? He’ll have his own antiausterity programme before long. T. COATES, Birmingham.
