Jockeys to get health warning

THE BHA is launching a poster campaign aimed at tackling ‘archaic weight-making practices’ among jockeys. The hard-hitting posters, backed by a social media campaign, warn against the dangers of flipping, where a jockey makes himself vomit after eating — the side effects of which include increased risk of fractures and decreased sexual function. The BHA have acted after studies by Oxford University and Liverpool’s John Moores University.
