Mick’s early court appearance

-

NOW that Andy Murray has bowed out of Wimbledon, British hopes rest on Johanna Konta, who plays Venus Williams in today’s ladies’ semi-finals.

Even Sir Mick Jagger, 73, is not immune from the excitement. The singer posted this old picture yesterday on social media of him playing tennis in the South of France before the start of the Rolling Stones’ European Tour in 1976.

‘Great to see Johanna Konta make the semi-finals at Wimbledon, first British woman in 39 years,’ Sir Mick captioned the image. ‘I never quite made it to a Grand Slam!’ Indeed not.

Sir Mick once arrived on court togged out in Wimbledon-style whites for a match against Keith Richards. Keef rolled up in cut-off jeans and with a fag in his mouth — and thrashed Mick 6-1.
