ORE ODUBA, holder of the Strictly Come

Dancing Glitterball trophy, will be part of the BBC athletics team for their coverage of the World Athletics Championships next month.

Oduba was announced in a press release as a BBC reporter interviewing players during Wimbledon but has yet to make an appearance.

Beeb insiders claim it was the talk of their tennis team that Oduba’s agents Avalon wanted him to have a higher-profile role, such as co-presenting the highlights show. Avalon strongly deny that was the case, saying: ‘A congestion of commitments meant Ore was not able to join the team this year.’

However, there has been no lasting damage done as the BBC’s new celebrity will be lining up for the broadcasters at the London Stadium. THE BBC are set to announce next week all those whom they pay over £150,000 a year as part of the terms of their new charter. So it will no doubt please those who earn big money at Wimbledon, such as John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Tim Henman, Clare Balding and Sue Barker, that the tournament will be over and the spotlight no longer on them when the list is published.
