CITY’S NMECHA PUTS ENGLAND IN YOUTH FINAL

MANCHESTER CITY’S Lukas Nmecha went from zero to hero as his backheel booked England’s Under 19s a spot in the European Championship final with a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic. Nmecha, 18, headed over the bar in the 89th minute, but he atoned in the last five seconds of injury time. The ball was crossed into the box as the striker (right) pirouetted and backheeled it into the net. England play Portugal in the final in Gori, Georgia on Saturday. Meanwhile, World Cup winning Under 20s coach Paul Simpson says he will meet the FA in the next fortnight to discuss an extension of his contract. ‘I want to stay,’ he said.
