Sciver’s a world beater

- KALIKA MEHTA

NATALIE SCIVER’S brilliant century saw England book their place in the World Cup semi-finals with a convincing victory over New Zealand. The 24-year-old hit 129 off 111 balls — her second century of the tournament — and shared a fourth-wicket partnership of 170 with Tammy Beaumont (93) as England recovered from 52 for three to score 284 for nine. A disciplined bowling display then saw England bowl out New Zealand for 209 to clinch a 75-run victory at Derby. Sciver said: ‘Tammy and I worked well together. We were hitting the ball in different areas so it was hard for their bowlers. Now we want to finish top of the table.’ England face West Indies in their final group game in Bristol on Saturday knowing a big win will see them finish ahead of Australia and South Africa, who are also through to the last four.
