James Doyle had the pain of a BHA suspension for his use of the whip reduced by a big-race double on the first day of Newmarket’s July meeting. Doyle faces 10 days out from next Friday after a fifth breach of whip regulations in six months on Eclipse Stakes runner-up Barney Roy last Saturday. He won on 8-1 Cardsharp (July Stakes) and 7-2 Hawkbill (Princess of Wales’s Stakes).
