£10m to hire foreign teachers
HUNDREDS of foreign teachers will be recruited to plug shortages teaching physics, maths and languages in a £10million Government drive.
The National College for Teaching and Leadership revealed the plans to recruit 600 overseas teachers over three years. As well as a surge in pupil numbers, the Government blames economic growth and greater competition in the labour market for the shortage of home-grown teachers.
A spokesman said there is ‘a record number of teachers – 15,500 more than in 2010’.
