Can’t you buy Dave some new clothes, Samantha?

-

THE ‘POSH GIRL’ exodus at Vogue continues apace as its new editor, Edward Enninful, prepares to take over in the autumn.

On Thursday night, the magazine’s deputy editor of ten years, Emily Sheffield, was given her own stylish send-off in the leafy suburbs of northwest London.

Hosted by former editor Alexandra Shulman — just three weeks after her own leaving bash at Dock Kitchen — it was a glamorous affair.

Sheffield, 44, was joined by her older sister Samantha Cameron with her husband, ex-PM Dave, fashion stylist Sophia Hesketh, daughter of former Conservative Party treasurer Lord Hesketh, and Peaky Blinders actress Helen McCrory, who arrived with newly shorn hair and several Selfridges shopping bags on her arms.

At the soiree, held at Shulman’s £3.5million house in Queen’s Park, guests refreshed themselves with white wine, pink vodka cocktails and gin and tonics.

Less preparation was put into some of their outfits, however, for Dave sported the very same navy coloured shirt, jeans and black shoes that he wore to Alexandra’s send- off last month. He’s clearly in need of a fashion makeover from his designer wife.

There was no sign of Vogue’s recently departed fashion director Lucinda Chambers — which was just as well given her own withering interview last week after 36 years at the magazine. ‘Truth be told, I haven’t read Vogue in years,’ she said, calling the magazine’s clothes ‘irrelevant’ and ‘ridiculously expensive’.

‘In fashion, we are always trying to make people buy something they don’t need,’ she added, revealing that her employment had been terminated by the magazine. Enninful, a Ghanaian-born British stylist and fashion director at W Magazine, is apparently on a mission to purge the publication of all ‘posh girls’, and he has appointed Naomi Campbell as a new contributing editor. Earlier this week, he joined Kate Moss at her favourite detox centre in Turkey with ex-model Sadie Frost, Sadie’s boyfriend Darren Strowger and nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson.

Sheffield was widely tipped to take over from Shulman as editor, so it was inevitable that she would follow Chambers out of Vogue HQ’s revolving door.
