Oscar-winner Jennifer ‘is not pretty enough’ to play my sister Sharon Tate
SHE is one of the most desirable actresses in Hollywood – and an Oscar winner to boot.
But Jennifer Lawrence is ‘not pretty enough’ to play Sharon Tate in a film, according to the murdered actress’s sister.
Debra Tate said she would prefer Australian star Margot Robbie to be cast in a new Quentin Tarantino film about cult criminal Charles Manson.
Both actresses are understood to be in the running for the role of Miss Tate, who was murdered by members of the Manson Family gang while she was eight months’ pregnant in 1969.
But speaking to US website TMZ, her sister, 64, said of Miss Lawrence: ‘Not that I have anything against her, but she’s not pretty enough to play Sharon.
‘And that’s a horrible thing to say, but I have my standards. My pick would be Margot simply because of her physical beauty.
‘The way she even carries herself is similar to that of Sharon. Physical beauty wouldn’t be so important but Sharon’s six years of her public life were all based on that incredibly beautiful, natural, perfect look in both soul, heart and spirit. So that’s what I’m looking to try to capture.’
Pulp Fiction director Tarantino is reportedly putting the finishing touches on a script exploring the killings of 26-year- old Miss Tate and four others at the home she shared with her husband, film director Roman Polanski, in California. Polanksi, now 83, was away shooting a film in Europe at the time.
Manson and three of his followers, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian and Patricia Krenwinkel, were found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison for their crimes in 1971.
Miss Lawrence, 26, who won a Best Actress Oscar for 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook and starred in The Hunger Games films, was the world’s highest-paid actress last year, earning £35million.
Miss Robbie, 27, found fame in 2013 appearing opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street and last year starred in The Legend of Tarzan and superhero film Suicide Squad.
